Playing Hooky (kind of) from School!

We got a call while on our way to co-op this morning that my brother-in-law, an Iraqi war veteran and Blackhawk pilot that we are so proud of, would be landing at an airport near us to refuel!

He had spent the past three and a half months out west for fire season. Firefighters would direct Uncle Johnny as to where to strategically dump hundreds of gallons of water, gathered from a lake and held in a basket underneath the helicopter, during a wild fire.

So, I quickly finished my before co-op duties, and asked a sweet friend to take over my assembly duties. Then, with the blessings of my fellow co-op members, we headed out to watch the landing and refueling and get a tour of the Blackhawk. How cool is that?! Plus, My awesome husband was able to met us there!

Sometimes you have to deviate from your existing plans. It's ok and good! I'm am thankful our schedule is flexible!

After the tour, I had to be back at co-op to attend to my duties. Thankfully, my husband was able to take the kids out to lunch with Uncle Johnny and the crew.

Afterwards, my sweet ones got to go back to the airport and watch the take off. It was the best spontaneous field trip we've ever had! Thanks to Uncle Johnny and my husband for making it happen!
