We got back from six days in the Smoky Mountains just thirty minutes before midnight Saturday night. It took a couple of days for us to unwind and rest from our vacation. I'll have an update on our trip, soon. I'm almost finished writing about Day #1.
So this week it was nice to sit back and take a break. We read a lot in our new read aloud, Little House in the Big Woods. Since we stayed in a log cabin deep in the woods during our trip, I thought this would be a great time to begin reading this classic, again. We are nearly half way through.
I read the whole series to Caraline when she was in first grade. The boys were too young, but now they are the perfect age! And Caraline is enjoying hearing these sweet tales again. The boys are loving it, too!
We received two review packages in the mail while we were gone. One is Awana Homeschool for each child! Our family is involved in Awana through our church and to be able to pour through the At Home materials over the next few weeks is going to be so exciting!
Each little one (and Mommy) has already completed a week's worth of sections and memory verses!
This is the second review item we received Classical Conversations: Prescripts Cursive Words and Drawing. Caraline has pulled this workbook out everyday on her own. Practicing cursive and the drawing activities are fun to my sweet girl!
Supercharged Science's e-Camp opened this week. The unanimous vote was to begin learning all about kites in the Kites Dynamics Lab. We made bat kites! It doesn't have to have wind to fly. The kids are loving this class. They can't wait to make a kite that will lift them off the ground. We just need pretty strong winds for that one to happen.
Near the end of the week we got into the Rocketry Lab. Ryan was memorized. We've since ordered an Estes Alpha Rocket and kit! He is so excited!!!
Ryan was the first to get his bat kite the highest!
Caraline got the hang of it, too!
And boy did Jonathan think it was cool!! He made this one nearly all by himself!
Caraline decided to try a glue and sand art project.
Refilling the sandbox was one of our best decisions! Our sweet ones have spent hours playing in this little square!
Our girl Sandy loves to join in the fun, too. I love how she has to be touching someone when she sits. Notice her hind leg on Jonathan's.
Bird Cage Press for the past several weeks.
And I'll leave you with this cute little picture of Betsy snuggled with Ariel, Caraline's cheetah cub.
